Yellow Rumped Thornbills.

Last year a pair of Yellow Rumped Thornbills nested in our Black Eyed Susan they took five weeks to build their nest which is rather large for such a small bird the entrance is a hole in the side but strangely they build another normal shaped nest above it. this year they have decided to build in one of our hanging baskets that contains a trailing Geranium so far they have been building for one week not very much to see yet will keep you informed each week and TRY to get a photo of birds.

Lemons

A rather large lemon which weighed over a kilo.

Daffodils

Spring has nearly sprung, these daffodils are a little early but they do not know its not spring yet do they.

Japanese wood carving.

I found this photograph which was taken when I was stationed in Hiroshima with BCOF in 1946 , it was shared between my mate Reg and I where we kept all our odds and ends, I had the left hand side but you can see we 18 year olds liked Rita Hayworth the front lower left was a pen friend from New Zealand ,long forgotten , the top left was a piece of sawn silver birch with a Japanese scene painted on it I paid one yen for it now scroll down and see the same piece of wood.

It now takes pride of place in my "bathroom",after 63 years it has kept its colour

A pair of wrens had been coming into the garden each day , however we have missed them for a few weeks now we know why they returned today with three babies which they were feeding, they are a little ellusive in trying to photograph them all but I did manage to get the cock bird.
